Why we tithe  

The bible teaches tithing to be the responsibility of every believer and is an act of keeping God first in our lives. (Deuteronomy 14:23) Tithing places “works” to our faith and demonstrates the fact that we believe God’s Word in this regard, and know Him to be our source. Finally, it is God’s personal invitation to an outpouring of His blessing over our lives.The word “tithe” is derived from the Hebrew word ma’aser and it literally means “a tenth”. The bible teaches us to set aside 10% of all our increase, and return it back to Him to assist in meeting the needs of the local church. As a point of teaching and discipleship, “increase” in our American society refers to money! You cannot “tithe” your time, your gift, or your service and believe that you are a tither, nor expect to receive the blessing as such.“Bring the whole tithe (the entire 10%) into the storehouse, (the local church assembly) that there may be food in my house. "Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” (Malachi 3:10)  

We encourage you to activate the Kingdom principals of “planting and increase” in your life by being a faithful tither and a giver of offerings. 

 

About the offering

Unlike the tithe, the amount of an offering is entirely determined in the heart of the giver. The “offering” is a powerful Kingdom principal that works for Kingdom purposes. It is like a seed that we voluntarily plant. When we sow in faith, God promises to bring return or increase to the giver. Offerings should be given from a joyful heart, given in obedience to is word, with purpose, in faith, and with an expectancy for the return or increase from God. This return/increase is one aspect of God’s true “circle of life” and enables us to live abundant lives and empowers us to be a blessing to others.

 

The giving of alms

Giving of arms is the simple gift of love in monetary form. Helping someone in need will demonstrate the love and care God has for those less fortunate than yourself. Understand, whatever you do in this respect is as doing it directly for God, Matthew 25:40. When a giving heart is pure, this act will be done in secret (whenever possible), in humility (always possible), and in complete service to the Lord God. You are blessed to be a blessing!
